A Major Move by Nissan India: Discover the 3 New Cars Launching in 2026-27!

A Major Move by Nissan India: Nissan India has consistently maintained a strong foothold in the export market, particularly with products such as the Magnite, Kicks, Sunny, and Micra. However, its domestic portfolio in India is now in need of a major upgrade. Currently, the Magnite is the only model available for sale in India. Yet, over the next two years, Nissan plans to launch several new cars. Let’s take a detailed look at Nissan’s upcoming vehicles and future plans.

MY2026 Magnite – New Look and Updates

As part of its strategy to revitalize its presence in India, Nissan will first launch the MY2026 Magnite. While it may feature minor cosmetic tweaks and the addition of a few new features, significant technical changes are unlikely. The powertrain options currently available in the existing Magnite are expected to carry over to the upcoming model as well.

The Magnite offers two engine options: a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine producing 72 PS, and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 100 PS. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual (5MT) and a 5-speed AMT for the NA petrol variant, and a 5-speed manual (5MT) and a CVT for the turbo-petrol variant. Additionally, a factory-approved CNG retrofit option is available for both the manual and AMT variants. In terms of safety, the Magnite has achieved a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. It competes with rivals such as the Maruti Fronx and Renault Kiger.

Tekton SUV and Gravite MPV

Nissan plans to unveil the new Tekton SUV in February. This vehicle will be positioned in the 4.2-meter to 4.4-meter SUV segment and will compete against models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. The Tekton is based on the CMF-B platform, which also underpins the new-generation Renault Duster; however, the designs of the two vehicles are distinct. The Tekton will be available with both petrol and hybrid powertrain options, and higher variants will also offer an AWD option.

Following the Tekton, Nissan is set to announce the pricing for the Gravite MPV in March. The Gravite will be based on the CMF-A+ architecture, which is currently also utilized in the Renault Triber. Images shared by Nissan reveal that the Gravite features a sporty profile and a strong road presence. The MPV incorporates key elements of Nissan’s latest design language, such as a C-shaped front fascia, a distinctive grille, and sharp, angular tail lamps at the rear.

A 7-Seater C-SUV Arriving in 2027

Building on the success of the Nissan Tekton, the company will also introduce its own 7-seater C-SUV. However, this will not merely be a 7-seater variant of the Tekton, but rather a completely distinct and new product. Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan India, has confirmed this development. Like the Tekton, this SUV will be based on the CMF-B platform. A longer wheelbase, along with certain mechanical and design modifications, will set it apart from other 7-seater SUVs in the market.

Dealer Network Expansion and Sales Strategy

To ensure its updated product portfolio reaches the widest possible audience, Nissan is actively expanding its dealer network across India. Currently comprising 150 showrooms, the network is slated to be expanded to 200 outlets. Achieving this target prior to the launch of the Tekton SUV is a top priority for Nissan. By 2027—when the pricing for the 7-seater SUV is announced—the plan is to further expand the dealer network to 250 locations. Concurrently, there will be a significant increase in the recruitment of sales and service personnel over the next two years.

In this manner, Nissan India is working rapidly to strengthen its foothold in the Indian market—not only through its existing model, the Magnite, but also through a lineup of new products including the Tekton, the Gravite MPV, and the 7-seater C-SUV. In the coming years, this strategy will introduce a host of new options for Indian customers and further solidify Nissan’s brand identity.
